Have you ever been in a situation where you were scared to do something because you may make a mistake? Have you ever had the opportunity to speak publicly, yet you avoided it? Have you ever lost confidence in yourself because of a previous experience? Honestly, we all have had moments where our confidence was lacking.
A preacher once said "confidence is your drivers license in life". These words struck a chord in my heart when I heard them. Without a drivers license, you may have the best car in the world but you cannot drive it. The best thing you could do is get a person with a drivers license to help drive you around. This is the same way it happens in life. If you lack confidence, your skills and talents will not seem to be evident because you lack the license to use them.
I had a lot of confidence issues when I was younger and I still have a few now. Back then, public speaking was an issue, playing sports was also an issue and playing video games was the worst thing I could try back then. I overcame my lack of confidence in these areas by constant practice. I worked on my speaking by reading books and listening to great speakers talk. I practiced my speech in front of others and with their feedbacks, I improved. I got better at sports by practicing continuously, day and night. I made friends with the University's basketball team players and they taught me some stuff. I eventually became a part of the team by my final year and we won a gold medal together. I brushed up my video game skills by practicing more and more. I am not the best at it but do not try me at Mortal Kombat XL 😉.
We all can become better and more confident. All we need to do is put in the required work and constantly improve on ourselves through practice. Never forget that "Confidence is the antidote to fear" and "Practice brings confidence".
